Antique Persian Dorokhsh Rug 27107
Antique Dorokhsh with a soft celadon field and an all-over pattern of burgundy, brick red, pale coral, tan, and umber. Floreated lattice motifs with arching stems and a dense array of blossoms, palmettes and leaf forms compose the field. The piece is framed by an equally intricate main border of garden elements with an inscribed palmette compartment at the bottom of the rug. Dorokhsh is a mountainous area of Khorassan region in northeastern Iran, known for fine rugs of the court tradition.
