Hand Woven in Western Persia Circa 1900. A Village workshop weaving of large scale proportions and classic design.
Construction: All Wool Pile on a Cotton Foundation, Non depressed warp weave using persian knotting techniques, multiple cord wrapped selvedge, short fringe end finish.
Design Type: An All Over drawing of palmettes, floral forms and vines connecting in medium scale. The design style is classic to this group and a standard of large decorative furnishing carpets. A delicate and well drawn palmette border frames the piece.
Color: A midnight blue background and complex range of earth tones using vegetable dye materials.
