Hand woven in Oushak Turkey circa 1880. A village workshop weaving of classic style and structure.

Construction: All wool pile on a wool foundation, non depressed warp weave using Turkish knotting technique, multiple cord wrapped selvedge, short fringe end finish.

Design type: A large scale drawing of archaic style. Eccentric palmette forms are the primary design feature with large scale craggy vines connecting the elements. A geometric floral border of similar scale frames the piece.

Color: A complex range of red and aqua green and very soft earth tones.
