This antique Mahal features a dense, allover, geometricized lattice vine pattern with floral details in ivory, blue, taupe, gold and brick red on a dark indigo field. Geometric heretic border of vivid indigo on a brick red field. Mahals are a variety of the distinguished Sarouk, produced in Sultanabad (current day Arak) in northwest Iran, a prominent center of village and workshop productions in the 19th and 20th centuries, often for the European market.
