Malayer is a large village located between the major weaving areas of Hamadan and Sarouk in Northwest Persia. The central medallion in this rug is certain to attract eyes. Shapes within shapes highlight the complexity of typical Malayer rugs. Tribal designs and the three diamonds are a palatable to fit into a variety of aesthetics.
