Antique Khotan in a time-softened palette of burgundy ground, and sage green, gold, ivory and deep brown accents. This rug features a triple medallion, a motif of Buddhist origin, flanked by smaller medallions. Decorative spandrels and diagonal border fret motifs complete the design. Khotan rugs originate from East Turkestan. Influenced by the trade of the Silk Roads, they synthesize elements of Tibetan, Indian, Persian and Turkic traditions.
