Inspired by Beaudry Collier Design’s transformation of a Park Avenue home
On New York’s Upper East Side, a historic Art Deco maisonette has been given new life by Beaudry Collier Design in collaboration with Elmo Studios. Originally envisioned as a family-friendly retreat that bridges uptown tradition and downtown modernity, the residence now radiates timeless elegance.
Among the layered architectural details and bespoke furnishings, one feature quietly defines the space: a handcrafted rug from Mehraban.
Sophistication Underfoot
In the living room — designed for both intimate family moments and polished gatherings — the seating arrangement of cashmere and Rose Tarlow fabrics is anchored by a Mehraban hemp flat-weave rug. Its subtle texture and enduring craftsmanship ground the space, offering a sophisticated canvas that balances the richness of verdigris bronze lighting, custom millwork, and plaster walls.
Our rugs are made to do more than decorate: they create a foundation for storytelling. In this Park Avenue maisonette, the Mehraban rug doesn’t compete with statement pieces; it complements them, allowing the room to function as both a family haven and an elegant entertaining space.
Designed for Interior Visionaries
Mehraban rugs have long been celebrated by interior designers for their ability to transcend trends. In this project, our flat-weave was selected not only for its refined beauty but also for its durability — an essential quality for a young family seeking longevity in every design choice. It’s this harmony of sophistication and practicality that makes our rugs a natural fit for the most ambitious interiors.
Elevating Tradition with Modern Elegance
Just as Beaudry Collier Design honored the original Candela architecture while infusing a modern sensibility, Mehraban rugs embody a similar ethos: respecting tradition while evolving for contemporary living. The maisonette’s curving staircase and crown moldings find their counterpart in the subtle craftsmanship of our rug — timeless details brought forward with a fresh perspective.
