This antique Kerman features a tan ground with umber, soft brown and pale teal tones. The elaborate curvilinear design elements include an open medallion with pendants, vase spandrels and a narrow architectural border. With the exception of the plain field, the design brims with blossoming floral sprays and spiral embellishments. Kerman in southeastern Iran, is a source of fine rugs of the Safavid courtly tradition.
