This Antique Persian Malayer features warm cinnamon and camel tones with characteristic dark blue accent.
The rug is artfully distressed, enhancing the charm of variation within the all-over Herati pattern. The soft indigo color in the border articulates unique Boteh and floral motifs.
Malayer and surrounding villages in Northwestern Iran is an area known for fine tribal weaving. In the 19th and 20th centuries, individual weavers of the region developed cottage industry production, interpreting the rich pool of Persian motifs in original and often idiosyncratic ways.
