Antique Persian Mahal Rug 26157
Couldn't load pickup availability
Soft tan and umber abrash toned pile are offset by fruity pinks and earthy indigos in this perfectly weathered antique Mahal. While etched passages reveal the touch of time, the geometry of rug’s medallion, field, cornerpieces and border areas provides a strong structural mooring. The piece brims with a fecund density of geometricized vine floral motifs. Mahal rugs are a variety of the distinguished Sarouk, produced in Sultanabad in northwest Iran, a prominent center of village and workshop productions in the 19th and 20th centuries, often for the European market.
